Client

A top-10 global pharmaceutical company producing $1 billion annually of a IV cancer drug

Problem

US-based factory currently operates 24/7 on spreadsheets, in-person meetings and emails. They aim to adopt the Toyota Production System, but have been hampered by a dozen siloed backend systems, manual processes and lack of an internal data team.

Solution

We identified six critical source systems, including ERP, MES, historian, QMS, personnel and safety as initial targets for integration. Data originated in on-premises historian, enterprise cloud data warehouse, cloud SQL databases and third-party SaaS REST APIs. OMAHA’s professional services team unified data and delivered output to SharePoint for use in Power BI by client’s existing business analytics teams.

Outcome

Operational dashboards provide production diagnostics and plant wide visibility for the first time in the factory’s 15 year history. Non-technical users can investigate deviations and organically evolve KPI’s for future implementation in OMAHA. Client has a clear path to building in-house data capacity if desired.
